All, In keeping with Heritage Locomotives on the union pacific, I believe they u.p.rr failed to have one commemorating the CENTRAL PACIFIC RR itself. There would be one interesting looking GE or EMD. Yes, opinions and ideas are welcomed. Wonder how a GE or EMD would look painted for the CP -CENTRAL PACIFIC. Tom
What would you use as a paint scheme seeing that the Central Pacific became part of the SP in 1885 (though technically not merged until 1959) and never had any diesels? Then most of UP's heritage schemes bear little resemblence to the original predecessor schemes anyway.
Red with gold accents and a california landscape painting somewhere. Sent from my BNTV400 using Tapatalk
With all the Model Locomotives in Heritage colors whether it be a GE or EMD and offered by KATO, FOXVALLEY and BACHMANN as an UNDECORATED model, I'm quite sure we're all intelligent enough to figure out color to painting either a GE or Caterpillar- EMD whether it be in N-SCALE or ho-scale. Below are some links which I found and a 2013 FVM advertisement also a photo of the Jupiter -most likely a reproduction sanders I think was the photographer-. The UP could keep busy with numerous additional heritage paint schemes, depending on how far back one wished to go. Chicago Great Western, Minneapolis & St. Louis, Chicago & Eastern Illinois (split between MP and L&N) immediately come to mind.
Not sure what their status is on this one. As I recall, when C&NW got them, they didn't get the company name, etc. There was supposedly some operation which held on to it.
A scheme that should be done is the Cotton Belt. At least they could use their own paints without having to order special paint. Would just hate to think about it, though, given their love of Picasso...
I agree. When these were first in the works, I was raked over red hot coals for saying something similar.
