Located at 1700 Port Road is the Arkansas Railway Museum. This is the home of COTTON BELT Northern #819 the last SSW steam locomotive built. The museum is also home to SSW Mogul #336, GP30 #5006, SSW Bay Window Caboose #83 and a host of other railroad equipment. The big news is that #819 is being worked on for a possible return to steam in a couple of years. Good luck on that!
Added attractions at the Arkansas Railroad Museum are ex AT&SF RSD-15 #843. This unit is to be repainted in Santa Fe colors, Ex-SP RSD-12 #2954 is to be restored to its original paint. Coming to Pine Bluff will be ex-UP #2907 a C630. The Century is currently in Houston and is to go to North Little Rock for paint before coming to Pine Bluff. The #819 is awaiting flue work before she can raise any steam and then the question will still be where she can operate. The only other existing Cotton Belt steam locomotive is SSW #336 a 1909 built Mogul. The hope is to restore that locomotive cosmetically. The museum is all volunteer so your donations are welcome. Take a trip to Pine Bluff, it's worth the drive.
