I use Aristocraft Train Engineer wireless transmitter-receiver throttles for my N scale layout. I have been using the same transmitters and receivers (four) for about 6-7 years with great success in my slow speed switching operations. (I use an MRC power supply.) Some of the throttles are having problems with the sensors on the transmitters and require 2-3 pushes to get the throttle to respond. I am sure they are just old so I want to replace them with the same or equivalent Aristocraft system.

Are the Aristocraft Train Engineer throttles (CRE 55470) readily available? I could only find one location on the internet. Are they sporadically produced and only have perodic production runs? Am I just not looking in the right place? When I originally purchased mine, I thought they were a very common Garden Railway throttle. Thanks for the help.

No retailer information, please. Send a PM to me if you wish to recommend a retailer. Thanks again.

Further...should I purchase new transmitters individually? I am afraid they would not work on the frequencies with my old receivers.

Very good advice, Sandro. Here is the very prompt Aristocraft response:

That solves that, for me.

Flash Blackman, I didn't realize that people from other scales would use G scale products, but it would work all the same. I seen Bachmann pushing their DCC control system, So I figured thats what people in HO and N scale used.

Yeah, we discovered the Aristo wireless throttles when they first came out. Was an easy way to go wireless when were were all running DC. Most large NTRAK convention layouts still use them on the non DCC lines.

Of course! That is why I am over here soaking up all this G scale information. :D

Really...there is a completely different set of problems when you build layouts outside. I think it is most interesting.

[edit] I would really like to do the battery power thing in N scale. That is really the way to go. Probably not soon, though.

Well, since you are over here soaking up info, there is a battery manufacturer called Cordless Renovations that is always coming out with new battery types, especially in the Lithium-Ion technology. Anyone considering battery power should keep a eye out on the new products they introduce. They just came out with a 18 volt Lithium battery which is in my G scale news September 2010 post.

Battery power has its own set of problems, even in Large Scale.

No problem, I think the only 2 rules that I can think of that many don't know about, even some stafff members is one rule is there is to be no links to other train boards and the other is no hobby shop or vendor names are to be used. I did get a acception for the G scale section for hobby shops who have custom runs can be listed with the custom run product only or sometimes a vendor can be a manufacturer also which would be Charles Ro also owns USA Trains for example. Any questions in the future what may be allowed or not allowed since how there is sometimes gray areas, all are wlecome to pm me any time with any questions or concerns.

No offense was taken and I never thought you did it purposely. It's great having G scale members like you aboard, thanx for understanding.
