 I cannot get the cab interior/glass out! Any ideas? I tried toothpicks, tweezers, needlenose pliers, and I'm out of ideas.
yep. it isn't that bad. all you need are 4 toothpicks. slide the toothpicks between the shell and the drive. one on each side of each truck right between the axles. this disengages the locking tabs and the shell slides off smoothliy. once you removed the shell you will notice the two tabs on the glass parts. one at the rear the other on on the opposite side on the front glass part. remember these positions. you will just need two toothpicks once you know where these tabs are located.
Hey, Bearden did an article in NScale when they came out. PM Scott Lupia if you can't find they article. He did my 2 F-40's,so he knows how to do it.
Sandro, Thanks for your help--I did get the shell off the mech, and the rear glass was a breeze. The cab interior and glazing are m major hangup. I have tried toothpicks, wiggling it every sort of way--I noted there are 2 nub that protrude into the glazing, that snap it all in. I disengaged those, and still no luck.
I finally got it done! Steve W PM'd me about it, noting the strobe lights need to be pulled out first--then the rest should come out easy. And they did! Thanks, Steve! Next up, filling in strobe holes, relocating the horns, and flling in that section, then filling int he red light hole. VIA units don't use any of those.
Hemi is this VIA for yourself or a project for someone else? I'd love to see pics of it as it comes along considering I'd like to get a couple for my layout.
Once again the whole TB gang jumps in to lend a hand. You guys are awesome !!!! I will personally take the blame for holding up Hemi's layout project. Mavrick0 - Hemi is doing this project for me - As an aside- Remember meeting me in Stoney Creek operating on a friends N Scale layout on the H.O.M.E.S layout tour ? I was running the CN heritage paint C44 unit.
Indeed, the TB family is once again saving the day!! Stephen, the VIA units are not holding up layout progress, the reversing loop issue is!
Yup, I remember meeting you. Well I'd would love to see how this engine turns out. I might have to hire Hemi to do one or two for me, if he's up for it. lol.
