Are these couplers the same?

    Definitely different. The 1129 is a "universal" replacement for truck-mounted couplers, generally on freight cars. The other one is a Kato-specific conversion product.

    Oops, you're probably right, but doh, I didn't think mtl conversion page listed foriegn roads. 1129 is listed for this one. I looked after I responded and am editing! Thanks though

    That's the 1st time I ever saw a MTL Kato specific coupler conversion.

    They are the same...

    One is packaged for sale in Japan, one is the standard US product. Newhall Station is big on importing products available only overseas then jacking the price up on them.
