Atlas Fruit Growers Express boxcar: (click on the picture for a link) The car is still around, but you might have to hunt for this scheme. Good luck in the hunt, Gary
Yes: http://www.atlasrr.com/NFreight/nfgeboxcar.htm This paint scheme was released in 2003. They should still be available somewhere on eBay as Ben suggests, if not from some of the etailers. Cheers, Gary
Incidentally, micro trains also did a "Solid Gold" car, although I understand it's a bit of a foobie as far as the car type.
Microscale has these available: They say "real cold" instead of "solid gold" as you can see, set 60-4022. It appears they make the "solid gold" only in HO. Also, Micro-Trains released one of these in "solid gold" back in 1985 (#38150) - hard to find and usually a little bit on the expensive side if you find it.
I think I have a Roundhouse car in the Solid Cold or Gold scheme, but I'd have to dig it out of the box to make sure. Mine's a few years old.
Then again, I could be wrong...I have two FGE cars, one by Atlas and the other by Roundhouse. The only one with a slogan says, "The Chiller", but I could have sworn I had a "Solid Cold" or "Gold" car somewheres...
Roundhouse did do "Solid Cold" reefers. They are not entirely accurate, but I have a few and like them.
Somewhere on one of the train forums was an explaination as to the difference and why they were lettered like that. IIRC the "Solid Gold" was the insulated car, the "Real Cold" was a mech reefer and "The Chiller" was a mech reefer after a merger (or something like that) I have a couple of the older Atlas and MDC cars at home I'll look at. "The Chiller" I'm pretty sure was an MDC and the "Solid Gold" ones are Atlas from a three pack. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruit_Growers_Express
The information here can fill you in on Sold Cold, Solid Clod, Real Cold, and The Chiller. FGMR 12646 - Solid Clod aka: 'Solid Cold' on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (Not that I can vouch for it's accuracy...)
