In the process of eventually finding a short in the wiring of my Proto 0-8-0 I built up a second Lenz Silver Mini with a NMRA 8-pin plug, originally thinking I had fried the first one. (As an aside, the Silver Minis have some great built-in protection!) So now I have this decoder with wires too short to make it worth unsoldering from the plug. Are there any other good running N scale engines with built in NMRA sockets? I suppose I could try and track down a second 0-8-0, but I'd rather see what else is out there first.
Hmm, no S2s were owned by PRR, unfortunately. I'd have to come up with a reason to have one pass through. :tb-biggrin: Can these still be found?
The Con-Cor Pioneer Zephyr, Aerotrain, and M-1000, plus the later version of their PA-1 all have a an 8 pin NMRA plug. The Intermountain Cab Forward also uses an 8 pin NMRA plug.
The CC 4-8-4's including the GS-4 and the Con Cor 2-10-2's are your best choice. You could also buy another Walthers 0-8-0.
Ah, but the 2-10-2 tender is big enough (and seems to be built) to support a speaker too. I wouldn't mind having one, mind you, but I'd consider going the Tsunami route for something like this. Would a Tsunami and speaker fit okay in there?
A Tsunami decoder and speaker will fit in the 2-10-2. There is a well in the bottom of the tender which ill hold a round speaker. There is plenty of room in the tender. I've put 14 grams of weight in the tender to improve tracking as the 2-10-2 derives all of its power from the tender wheel sets. If you don't add weight to the tender, this steamer will operate very sporadically.
Well, Tsunami for that one, then. I'll have to put it on the list. :ru-biggrin: Still leaves me with a Silver Mini hanging off a plug. Maybe I need two 0-8-0s...
If you buy another 0-8-0, you can consist them together and then you have an 0-8-8-0 which you then can run on your mainline.:lightning::lightning:
