Hi all, been a while. What color of Arizona Rock and Mineral ballast should I use for the gray, black mix used on ATSF's Marceline Sub? Their site doesn't have pics of their ballast types. Thank you for your help. Track laying and major progress should start happening regularly soon as I get orders in a couple weeks.

I have the ARM 1381 CSX/Soutern Pacific/Wabash Grey N Scale Ballast and it is Grey/Black. I'll try and get a photo for you after church. :)

No need to get you a picture Steve.......Jims layout thread has several awesome looks at his ballast. If that dont convince you.......nothing will! :)

1381's their most recent part number I'm assuming? It looks fantastic. Most of the benchwork is complete for the actual towns, so here in a few weeks I'll be doing a lot of track work and if I can get the bluepoint manual throws figured out for my application and get the control panels done I can ballast by early spring. I hope. I should probably order the backdrops I want from back drop junction and get those in before going too crazy.

No contest there, Steve. I put up all the backdrops before I did ANY benchwork. Eliminates lots of problems, and gives you something to match your scenery to...

My thoughts exactly Jim. Those will be my next purchase. Luckily, the layout's not that big, so about 4 or 5 custom lengths should be it. Not sure quite how to mount them. I'm thinking using magnets to avoid ruining them with screws. Probably getting the farmland or sky rolls, since almost all the scenes have thick tree lines that'll be in front of the backdrops.

I'll hopefully order them in a week. Hope to get some new pics posted soon. Despite having a short mainline run, it will have quite a few spots. Floyd Missouri alone will have 5 spouts and a hose for Amoco. Not sure what type of business that was. And a ramp. So since I model the 90's, that ramp will be looking rotted and close to being torn out. Should look cool. I'm stoked to be making so much progress now, although things are still on the way. Hope you all enjoy following along.

    ff Topic-

Try their powdered products. They are great for weathering.
