Well, since you asked.... #1 for me right this minute would be the trucks from under the Erie baggage cars- which look a lot like the trucks under many other Erie cars, and bear a strong resemblance to the trucks used by L&N for their modernized cars. All of which are on my to-do list. Maybe I just can't find them- found Pennsy trucks, but not the Erie. Undecorated passenger cars (personally need some coaches, and maybe a horse car, or 2). I know you release undecs from time to time, and I recently bought several of the baggage cars, but I don't think the coach was ever released undecorated. Freight cars in realistic paint schemes for the mid 1950s- I am one of the few, I suppose, who buys those mineral brown box cars and black hoppers. Along that same line, maybe an ATSF express boxcar (Fe 24 or the FE 29) and reefer in the booorrrring coach green with dulux lettering in use after WWII and before 1960- no maps, no bright red on kelly green. I know the reefer (or the one ATSF had that was close) didn't spend much time in that scheme (soon repainted into that brighter green scheme you did produce), but would be ideal for my mid 50s era, and the box was in that scheme from the mid 40s until the 60s and some until they wore them out. Granted, some were done years ago by one of the custom painters (although I don't think anyone has done the Fe29- the one with end doors), but I would think with the interest in head end cars, it would be a natural, and you already make the body styles. For that matter, with the various box car styles you already produce, you could put out an express box for most if not all of the roads you are making passenger cars for (they weren't all 50' with double doors). Anyway. thanks for the opportunity to spout off. As I recollect, it was a conversation like this that helped convince you to do the Erie baggage car - of which I own 6, so I feel like I'm doing my part. I was going to buy 8, but then you brought out the mail baggage, and my purchasing was re-directed.
Joe, would MT ever consider locomotives again? What was your experience with the FT's like? Was it a bust, wash, or profitable? Would love to see MT's take on more early streamlined motive power (EMC EA, E1, E2, UP's M series of streamliners, etc…)
This would be cute. Easy project to put it back up on blocks and weather it too. http://www.railroadforums.com/photo...52101-cotton-belt-tank-car-mj-scanlon/cat/653
