Sad to see another pair of Espee units get patched.... The WP SD40-2's threw me for a minute there--WP never owned 6-axle power, right? Apparently, the egines were renumbered a WP number, to separate them out for rebuiling into green goats!
Any idea how long these are going to be on the UP roster? UP 1862 Viewing Album: Today in Atchison KS and the KC area - Railroad Picture Archives.NET They are starting to get up there in age. Greg
Not sure Greg. I havn't heard any rumors about them yet. The six axles are starting to show up in dead lines or storage areas more and more.
Yeah the ex-CNW units especially. I did see a couple of the 9200's this week end. Work trains are starting to get the early 4000's now along with the SD60M's. The SD40-2 is getting to be an endangered species. Greg
