In December Kato took Japanese N scalers by surprise by opening reservations for a completely retooled version of the C57 Pacific (of a different prototype version to that previously offered) that will be available in March so Kato don't always let you know what they are up to until it is ready to go.

I'd love to see them give the USRA Mikado the same treatment but my real money would go to anyone who did any Santa Fe steam.

I am still hopeful for a SP AC-9

Or is someone here able to kit bash and AC-10 into an AC-9 (hint, hint Superturbine)

After I posted the above I opened my newly arrived Model Railroader and quickly noted that BLI just announced a PRR H10 Consolidation. Unfortunately it is HO. SHEEEEESH!

Except its a Bachmann 2-8-8-4 instead of an AC-10 (check out Supers AC-9 thread here). As always, Superturbines work is absolutely super!

    John:
Could you say a bit more about; maybe a picture or two of your 12-wheeler?
It's a project I've had in mind for a while, but the 1900 era Brooks I need is probably an antique; at least compared to those I've seen so far.
I've been thinking of starting with some old MiniTrix decapods...

I am sure that Atlas will re-release the Shay this year.

Without hijacking this thread, has Atlas ever come out and said that they will not release this model again? It is not on their shipping schedule on their website.

    Dave,
Thats not hijacking, its extending. Im hoping they are waiting until they can release it with a decoder, already in it. AND that, thats this year.

I'm waiting for something that is ATSF, all we have is the Bachmann 4-8-4 that despite the vast improvement of that company's product in recent years is still one of their older models that is barely worth the cost of the box it comes in. I wish people would stop inferring that Santa Fe steam modellers have it easy, we are in the same boat as the rest of you.

Hey ! What about An HO and N /sound, 4-6-4 turbine!? Like that clumsy old O Lionel was. That'd be a nice 'change of pace'...

i don't think Atlas ever said they would NEVER run the Shay again.

They did cancel the announced Shay from .... what.... about 4 years ago.

Problem is the locos are kind of finicky and delicate. They have to be made right the first time or atlas doen't make much profit. I think their factory problems were just too huge at the time.

    I hope they re-run them.

Hmmm.... How about the Milwaukee northern type 261? Or maybe even any Milwaukee steam that is not a Hiawatha? Heck. I would be glad to see anything steam marked Milwaukee...........

From 3 feet away, the logos start to blur for me, so LOTUS steam opens up worlds for me. (looks OK to US)

Sorry guys ! I meant to say 6-4-6, not 4-6-4 ! It'd be nice seeing this behemoth, in scale, with the turbines instead of cylinders and to see those side rods alone with no other valve gear. Maybe sound would be a problem to obtain/or synthesize. Somewhere back a couple years she was on cover of and given history, mechanics, drawings and pics of her in TRAINS Mag. What a brute !!

While "I" am not a huge follower of the Milwaukee Road... I have purchase a few pieces in their livery. I am particularly fond of the Fox Valley Hiawatha passenger set and the 4-4-2 streamlined Atlantics they have released. I've been stating over the past couple of years that I fully expect Matt to continue offering more Milwaukee Road models including some of their unique locomotives. The F7 Hudson and the streamlined Pacific, which all had similar streamline styling of their Atlantic, would be welcomed in my home. The mechanisms would be useful for other NON-streamlined models from other railroads as well as NON-streamlined Milwaukee Road locos.

That's ok for me too, until I put my glasses on, then a USRA loco doesn't look anything like a Santa Fe. I think the days when we all fell over ourselves trying to get an Con Cor NYC Hudson or Minitrix PRR psuedo K4 in our favorite roadnames even though they didn't remotely resemble anything our roads ran are long gone.

The irony is that today the NYC and PRR fans would love a Hudson or K4 but the manfacturers don't think they would sell.

I have the PRR K4 Minitrix with a decoder installed that I am thinking about letting go.

Other than that, it sure would be nice if more manufacturers did a little better fidelity to the road names and less putting lipstick on the Pig.
