The title is the subject of this post- Anyone use the Digitrax PR-1 decoder programming tool? Any comments, feedbacK? I'm thinking about getting one aqnd would like to hear from someone about this. Also, how well does it work with non Digitrax NMRA compliant decoders?
Good luck trying to find one. I've been looking for a few weeks no one has them in stock and I do not think digitrax has finished there upgrade on it.
guys.... somewhere in the dark catacombs of my hobby rooms there must be a pr1. let me check and get back to you.
Get a LocoBuffer 2 and download JMRI for free from the Web. Google will find you both of those. Runs on modern Windows2000 machines, easy to use, kept up to date by the community, and cheaper
JMRI, the only way to go. I have a PR1 floating around as well, I was thinking of selling it since it doesn't get used anymore.
Don't have digitrax, so a locobuffer won't work. I was looking for a stand alone decoder programmer. Although it's more expensive, the SPROG looks like the best bet- Especially since I plan on using TCS and Lenz decoders. (Best warranties on the market) Since the SPROG supports USB, it will work with my laptop and desktop. Having it work with the laptop is really cool as I can take it to the club with me.
I have a PR-1 that I have only used once to do the things that my Prodigy won't. Since I am soon to buy the Prodigy Advanced I will sell my PR-1 if you need it.
Great logo, Kiwi!!! The wife and I were down your way a couple of years ago and had the pleasure of riding the TrazAlpine. As good as anything here in the States (unless you count the Cumbres and Toltec under steam). A bit of a travelogue... http://home.comcast.net/~dstuard/SNZ.htm We hope to be back before too long. Doug
