I'm trying to locate a friend of mine that I just found out was a member here on TrainBoard but hasn't posted since early 2006? His name is Mike Vasquez but he went by the name Up Mike. I last saw Mike when I was living in Southern California at Fullerton station for some train watching. I lost contact with him after I moved to Arizona. One of his last posts was about selling his layout that he built in his garage then he seemed to fall of the face of the earth. Does anyone know where he is and did he stay active in model railroading??

P.S. I went to his TrainBoard page and sent him a p.m. and also added him as a friend in hope of either message going to his personal e-mail address but haven't got a response yet.

I see that you have posted in his Profile. Having also sent him that PM, there's not much more you can do, but to wait and hope that he'll respond.

    Good luck!

I finally got a response back from UP Mike. Thought the facebook page is a different person. Mike does have a myspace page as he sent me the link to it. Funny thing is I never new that Mike like to play drums. And here I'm also a musician who's been in countless bands playing all guitars including bass and we could of hook up and jammed sometime while I was still living in Southern Ca. It was good to here from him and I did sent him a very lengthly e-mail in return so it might take him a little time answer back.

Very cool, I'm also a musician & model railroader...What do I have tucked under my N scale layout? Guitar and keyboard cases, my bass rig and my multi-guitar stand that stores my three bass guitars, an acoustic and my Fender Strat! :)

It's kinda tricky balancing my MRR time with my music time. Most of the time one has to dominate more than the other. For the past several years, music's won out most of the time.

But hey, if Neil Young, Rod Stewart and Phil Collins can do it, we can do it too!

Lots of people in the entertaiment field are model railroaders. I once had the pleasure of meeting actor Gary Coleman who was working at one of my favorite haunts back in the early 90's. The place was called The Discount Train Warehouse in Brea, Ca. When I first saw Gary I walk out of the store as my wife was waiting for me in my car. I told her she'll never guess who's working inside? When I told her it was Gary she didn't believe me at first and ask me if I was sure. I said if you don't believe me just come on inside and have a look for herself. It was Gary and through his time working there I just treated him like the rest of the guys and didn't do the old cliche's like "What you talking about Willis?" as he grew tired of hearing that kind of stuff. Gary was cool & nice manored and everyone who worked at the store or were customers all had one thing in common....we all liked trains! ( : And Gary was just one of those guys.......
Anyone interested in getting in contact with UP Mike (Mike Vasquez) I have his link and I'm posting here so you can get to his myspace page:http://www.myspace.com/dwmikey
