GP30's, SD40-2's, and GP9 slugs? There are 4 GP30's stored in one of the "junk" tracks, and behind the shop there are three SD40-2's offline coupled to now five Gp9 slugs. There have been several other -2's that have been there and left. Are they being prepared for storage or are they going to be retired? Any BNSF employees know? After the B23-7's were retired without warning, I'm worried if even more Santa Fe stuff will be leaving.

From what I've been reading on LocoNotes there are many changes being made at this time on BNSF. Former SD40-2s and SD45-2s are being reclassified as SD39-2s for switching and local service. There are supposed to be 350 new locomotives on order. Historic trends lead me to believe in this down economy that older power is going to have to give way for the newer power and the power being downgraded.
