    Welcome aboard!!!

I cannot find any pics on it....

The N&W version, IIRC, can make a convincing D&RGW 3550-series engine!

Well, i could not find photos of the union pacific roadname for the 2-8-8-2. so mostly to see it as I found one locally.
I've read a lot about them, some say they are one of the best n scale steamers, others seem to think the can't pull much and they break easy.
    Is it worth $165.00?
I kinda want a big boy or challenger, but want something new/don't want to pay $300-$400 for a used older model when I can get a new LL 2-8-8-2 for $165.
Any idea of any company (Kato or ConCor would be nice) will be making these soon?

The LL 2-8-8-2 is one of the best detailed steam loco's in N scale.

Pulling power is a problem. Some pull well and others just don't cut it. It'a a matter of luck whether you get a good pulling LL 2-8-8-2.

The problem is only one set of drivers out of four are geared.

If you could find one for $165, that is a great price. The one's still vailable at most e-tailers go for $199.

Kato isn't going to make a new steam engine anytime soon.

    Kozmo,

There are rumors that Athearn may release a Challenger in 2006. We do not know what Precision Craft Models will announce for 2006 yet. BUt everything they have announced is substantially late. Key has announced brass models of the BigBoy and the Challenger.

I cannot afford brass, but an Athearn Challenger would be neat....

I'd want one in 3985 for excursion servce....
