Cant wait for the C&O Kanawha from Bachmann. I am a little more optimistic it will arrive on time. Christmas is near you know.....
I check Kato Japan every day since they seem to update the production schedule weekly. Any day they should be announcing on the Japanese website the actual day(s) for production of this new UP equipment!
Have I missed something here? Bachmann is putting out an N-Scale Berkshire? A C&O Kanawha to be exact? Would like to have 3-4 of them, but I won't get burnt on the FIRST ISSUES/MODELS as I have with several engines before (LL 2-8-4, LL 0-8-0, B-Mann 2-6-6-2). So I wait until they have been out for awhile, and have put a second edition out. Also ALWAYS see what MARK has to say on SPOOKSHOW (http://www.spookshow.net/) about ANY engine the INDIANA RAILWAY is thinking about picking up.
I'm checking daily for the FEF and the DI Maxi IVs. According to DI's last update, they should be here around now. It's a great time to be in N scale, just look at pages 2-3 in the latest issue of N Scale magazine!
Porkypine52 - I dont stress first generation woes with bmann any more. The last 2 first runs I had with issues, they made good on, promptly. I dont want to open a debate on business models. The current model of,we make a cool product and stand behind it, so you dont have to stress it, works for me. Couple that with all the excellent teoubleshooting on this site and I cant miss
I also don't worry about Bachmann steamers . Any real problems I have had with them were all self inflicted I have a Berk on order from my local drug , er , train dealer . Also have the Broadway Ltd Mtn . on order from the same place . ....Mike
Yup. I'm checkin' almost every day on the Kato FEF-3's. My son and I have four of 'em on pre-order and every update I see at the KatoUSA site makes me happier with 'em! Of course, they'll get re-numbered and the white striping/tires painted black to represent post 1953-FEF's and some extra detailing, but all-in-all, they really capture the "look" of these big Northerns! They'll be great additions to my small fleet of brass FEF-2's and pre-1953 FEF-3's!! Cheerio! Bob Gilmore
Who is this Kelley, that seems to have them? ☺ will you be my new best friend? I just want to borrow a toy.
Oh sweet mother of mercy, that's going to be so awesome! I can't wait to convert some FEF's to SP&S and NP engines! Woohoo!
If all this stuff comes out in December my family is going to be getting a bunch of IOU's in their Christmas stockings. Yikes! Cheers, -Mark
I'm lucky because my sons are serious N scalers. They ask for locomotives and railcars for birthdays and Christmas. My youngest has asked for UP 844 for the last two Christmas. I told him "I don't think anyone makes an 844." He responded with "The elves can make ANYTHING!". I hope the look on his face is going to be as good as I think it will be
From the C&O historical society: NEW KANAWHA STEAM LOCOMOTIVES BY BACHMANN HO SCALE IS AVAILABLE NOW N SCALE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE IN TWO WEEKSORDER NOW! LIMITED SUPPLY AVAILABLE
My youngest son has pre-ordered two Kato FEF-3's...of course he's 28 yrs old! Hahaha! I also pre-ordered two. I'll probably be buying a few more if they release different numbers. Ours won't be excursion engines, but renumbered to represent FEF-3's in daily service on the U.P. mainlines between 1953 and 1956. With the separate smokebox and pilot, these would be easy to convert to FEF-2's, which I am planning on doing. Maybe Kato will make non-Worthington Feedwater Heater (pre-1951) engines in Two-Tone Gray, or even make an FEF-2 drop-coupler pilot for more numbers, both Worthington Feedwater Heater equipped and not. Just a couple of new parts and it's a different era and/or a different engine sub-class. Cheerio! Bob Gilmore
