I heard back from Anycubic. Their policy is to send parts and the customer can fix the printer, if you do not want to do the labor you can send the item back on your dime and they will replace it. My problem with this policy is it STINKS! I feel these folks should be covering the return shipping on faulty gear which they have produced and shipped into the wild. I do not have time to be tinkering with the printer to get it to work, plus I feel I should not be the one to do such work, as it is no fault of mine, they sent me a lemon.

They offered to send me a new power supply and a motherboard. Good grief man, in that case just ship me a new item. In any case, I shipped the printer back on my dime (70.00), and I am currently waiting for conformation that the return item reached it's destination in Jersey, then they will ship the new unit.

In my opinion their policy on technical support falls short of acceptable.

I had similar problems with a $1400 item. When I contacted the supplier, they insisted I send them videos of the electronics problem. How do you do that? Ended with them sending a replacement and I had to repackage and ship back the original at my expense. 130 pounds.
The trouble is that the replacement has some of the same electronics problems.
I now have one from another manufacturer. It failed once but I cleaned connections to fix it.
Mail/Online orders can be soooo much funnn!!

Well that does stink and I'm sorry you didn't get the same experience I got. I knew about their policy on repairs as during my research on my printer purchases I've heard of others that ordered direct (as opposed to Amazon which comes with a larger price tag) were offered parts sent for self repair. So I do factor that in to my purchasing decision and cross my fingers that I don't have to deal with it. It helps that I've been printing now for almost a decade and have cracked open my share of printers for various mods and repairs. In fact I've got an out-of-warranty resin printer I wrecked a couple weeks ago with parts inbound. But - for a brand new printer and new user that can leave a raw experience. Hopefully when you get the replacement you'll have lots of trouble free fun making cool things with it. Keep us posted!

Mike, it is not so much the repair, it's my time. I do not have the time to tinker with a printer that failed in less than a weeks' time. I am sure I could have easily replaced the power supply and the motherboard appeared to have just 3 connections. My problem rest with Anycubic's lack of responsibility to fix their failed machines. The process should be straight forward and very simple which would include paid return shipping. The return shipping being paid would at least leave a customer feeling as if the company were taking the proper steps to rectify their problem. I am not so sure about this company now. If I have further issues with the new machine, I can guarantee you Anycubic will never receive my business again.

If it failed within a week, I'd call that an outright design flaw. I'd be on top of them like a dog on a string of sausages.

What a lot of manufacturers omit doing is testing each module rigorously (that's my job where I work ) before it gets assembled into the final product. And sometimes if they do test them, they can let boards with marginal results through, which is very bad practice.

    An update:

3 weeks later and Anycubic delivered the new Kobra. PROBLEM!

The damn touch screen card reader is trash. The card will not click in, as I insert the card in the slot, the card sort of just rest in place. I have to use a tweezer to remove the card. The printer cannot read files. I've about had enough of Anycubic. So far, my Kobra experience has been awful.

I had to go into the garage to see if I had one of those slots on the display - I guess I do. I never even tried to use it so I was unaware (I'm not famous for reading the instructions so today I learned...lol) Does the slot on the front of the main/base unit work? Card on that one at least needs to be inserted with shiny contacts side up.

No, the card slot is shot. The card slides in and doesn't click into place, so you cannot press the back of the card in further for the card to retract, I have to use tweezers. The card contents are not being read by the system. It's truly an extremely frustrating situation with this company! I have had enough at this point.

For clarification though, that slot on the touch screen (pictured above) isn't used for printing. The microSD slot next to the USB port is the one that's used to feed the print files:

If both slots are trashed then sayonara Anycubic for sure.

Yea, I see the problem here.

OK, so what is that slot on the touch screen used for. I could have swore that was the slot I used the first time around.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

Not entirely sure - - however I think I read for some of their other printers it was there to update the touchscreen's firmware but I wonder if that was omitted on other models and they're using the old screen case? I just tried putting my card in that slot and got the same experience you did so I'm curious if there is anything in there or or if it's just an empty slot now. Good luck on round two - hope you get some prints this time after all you've been though to this point with it.

Thanks to Mike all is good so far with the Kobra 2. Prusa is all set and slicing my files. I printed a few clamps as I found they would be useful and all was well.

Look like the ones I have up on thingiverse.com. They have been a popular download. I think they are on Cults also.

Yes Sumner, I downloaded some files of your at Thingiverse. I will also be printing the servo mount and giving the system a go.

So far all is well with my Kobra 2. I have noticed that the extruder likes to clog up, then you have to disassemble and get at the problem. My printer clogged twice in about 10 days. Recently it clogged after a 6-hour print project, I was expecting this.

I posted a video below on the process of unclogging the Kobra 2.
