Hello everybody, looking for photos of SP 7121 after it was rebuilt with a GE cab in 1970. Have some photos, but only the left side, looking for good shots from the right and head on. Picked up a "wreck damaged" C-628 while traveling on business, so I have a good core to start this project. Planning to use the cab/short nose from an Atlas B-23, with some modifications. Thanks in advance.
Sorry, I can't help with the photos you need, but Welcome to Trainboard !!!! Good luck in this project, and for those of us who are Espee-illiterate, like me, do you have a link or a pic that you can post to show us what you're gonna build?
Welcome aboard! Sounds like a very unique project. Do you have a prototype photo we could view? Boxcab E50
I think it was an Alco C628. I didn't know it was rebuilt. The 7121 series was the original series of numbering. Rob Sarbarenyi photo from Richard Percy's Espee modelers page. [edit][IMGhttp://espee.railfan.net/IMG] Picture too big. Here is the link: http://espee.railfan.net/nonindex/c-628_photos/7121_sp-c628-rob_sarberenyi.jpg Is this a GE cab? Looks like it. No class lights on the top above the number boards.
True, true. Is it a GE nose, too? Also, no window shades. The numbers are not Espee style; they are gothic. Where is John Barnhill; he knows all this stuff! The lettering is like the TE70-4S...the four units with the FM marine motors painted in Daylight orange and Espee scarlet. [ May 08, 2005, 11:50 AM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
I couldn't find a right hand side picture; only the one above. [edit]http://www.trainboard.com/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/104/t/000157/p/1.html#000001 [ May 08, 2005, 01:06 PM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
Sorry, I was over in the SP forum answering this very question. Unfortunately, I only have found the very same pic from Richards site. The one I have is just before the rebuild. [edit] oops! [ May 08, 2005, 01:05 PM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
Thanks for your responses everybody, and good be here! Yup, thats the same picture I've been working from, really kills me not knowing whether they used a brake wheel or ratchet lever on the engineer's side. When it comes to that phase, probably toss a coin, this beast had a short lifespan. Been trying to scale it from this one shot, somethings are going to be guesses. Definately has a "what the heck factor" going for it. Will post completed shots when done.
