I can think of at least THREE on this forum alone........but haven't had much Frisco news to pass along lately. And since I had to fly to my new assignment, I left all my hobby stuff at home- durn shame, as I was working on repainting & redetailing a Walthers Trainline GP15-1 (their Frisco red is too red, and the handrails are clunky. Oh yeah, plastic Kadee wannabe "couplers".....yeesh). I have it stripped, and some details added (cab sunshades, nose Gyralite, roof lift rings), and a Smokey Valley GP15-1 handrail set ready to add, but it's all on hold for a while. Only other Frisco news I have is mentioned in the Ready Track forum about Frisco's buying controlling interest in the Central of Georgia (which it had from 1956 until 1963, when the ICC, in its usual brilliant magnificence, forced Frisco to divest itselg of all CofG stock, which was promptly snatched up by Southern Ry.). It is rumored that some members of the ICC went to UP's Operating Department after the ICC was replaced by the STB. You can see their awesome handiwork in the operation of UP trains since 1995.
That would look great behind a GP7 and a handful of cars on some Ozark branchline, or perhaps a 1360-class Consol or 1600-class Russian Decapod.
Partial Frisco Fan I guess I would consider myself a partial Frisco fan. I have a pair of SD45s, a GP40-2, a B30-7 and a GP38 as pool power. ~Tim I painted these myself a few years back. The two-color scheme can be tricky, but rewarding.
Who would want to be a fan of a railroad that used a piece of road kill as a background for its logo? I try to only be a fan of railroads that ran in the Houston area. Well, this thing came through town a few years ago. Does it count?
In our latest newsletter here at the Pacific Northwest Chapter, NRHS, there was a link to this site. You Frisco guys are probably well aware of it, but I had to share it. :teeth: http://www.thelibrary.org/lochist/frisco/frisco.cfm
Yep- that's where the records from the long-gone Frisco Museum are kept, and can be accessed. At least they're not destroyed, stored in a box in the attic, or (gasp) out on the E-site. As for the Frisco, IIRC they had control of a RR that ran deep into Texas at one time, around the turn of the 20th Century. Can't remember which one it was, and I don't have any of my Frisco history books with me, but it ran south into the Lone Star State beyond Dallas-Ft. Worth.
