I'll be heading home for a few days and hitting up the 25th annual BMX show in Lafeyette IN next Saturday. Anyone know of any train shops/hobby shops with trains worth checking out along this route? Initially I was going to go out of my way and head to Pats but after watching some YouTubes, while Pats is great for online shopping, it's a bit of a challenge for in store shopping if you know what I'm saying. Looking for any recommendations along my route, def willing to derivate a little bit if it's worth it. Thank you, Spicoi
If you go through Columbus Train Station is a good place . There is also Hobbyland but the new owners are more into R/C and Gunpla . Mike
Thank you - staying in Columbus tonite will prob stop by there. I saw a place north of Detroit that looks interesting called Great Lakes Hobby and Train. Great Lakes Hobby & Train (586) 254-1600 https://g.co/kgs/jC1GfCV
I checked out Train Station. Very good shop for small items - and structures. Was hoping for some Kato engines, really hoping to find The Spirit 1943 DCC and Sound Loco. Will try a few shops in Michigan.
Great Lakes was a nice shop, would recommend this one, just north of Detroit: https://maps.app.goo.gl/e89BBjC95vKyHjWo6 Gonna see what's left in Wisconsin here at home. We had Cudahy News and Hobby back in the day which then became Greenfield News and Hobby but then Jay the owner shut it down some years ago after a very long run. There was a train shop in Bay View area that I remember on KK ave. But it's not there - it's now a t shirt design shop. I think Waukesha will have something but that's quite a hike from my mom's in Oak Creek.
Walthers has a STORE? AND IN MILWAUKEE? Crazy - https://maps.app.goo.gl/2yUiiPAWHJG2U54V9 A number of good looking shops in Milwaukee: https://maps.app.goo.gl/VgUUzS6dXRtyPGFG6 https://maps.app.goo.gl/J7K42QFN8f7JRfZr6 All have weird hours and won't be open before I leave :-/
If in Chicago near Ohare airport, make sure you visit Des Plaines Hobbies. Outstanding book selection, too...
