MTL doesn't list them as loads for sale. I'm not going to spend 140 - 170, so I can end up with that 4-4-0, when all I want are the Cannons. I've bought a few of the add on cars, but they just have wood and hay loads. I'm pulling the cars with Atlas 4-4-0s. I just removed the Atlas coupler and the link pin fits perfectly.
Try wargaming stores, either in hobby shops locally or online. There are tons of war miniatures from all eras out there.
You can order them direct from GHQ, who offers a set of three 10" mortars, two 13" mortars and six "coehorns" for 9 bucks and change. These are 10mm wargaming models, which is very close to N scale. These are listed as "Siege Mortars (USA & CSA)" and do not include crews. You can order them here: http://www.ghqmodels.com/store/rebellion-miniature-seige-artillery.html The mortars on the MT Civil War cars are listed as 13" Siege Mortars, so the GHQ 13" Siege Mortars should be close, and may be more detailed. However, I couldn't find any photos of them. Cheers! Bob Gilmore
Musket Miniatures has N scale civil war and "old west" era miniatures. Wagons, horses, cavalry and I believe cannons. N scale blacksmithing tools. etc.
I just took a look at their website. Unfortunately while they have a lot of N scale accessories listed, it says the "10mm civil war" line is discontinued.
Trackside Treasures I believe makes cannons and other civil war era equipment. These are the same guys that make the WWII era tanks, etc. Walthers doesn't carry these items, but like stated above many wargaming sites do. Here is the link to a company that carries them: http://www.lastsquare.com/zen-cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=486 Hope that this helps. These are actually 1:160 instead of wargaming size.
After reading this does anybody know where I could find some Sherman tanks for flatcar loads and the size they'd need to be?
Trackside Treasures makes the Sherman tanks. They are currently in transit to Walthers. I am waiting for those as well as some other military equipment to complete my military consist. The website I posted above also has the trackside treasures, but I am hesitant as to who and where I give my money to. There is another website that offers howitzers and cannons for n scale here is the link: http://www.kenraymodels.com/pages/pages/miltary.shtml. What I am currently in the process of doing, instead of spending so much money on tanks and having all that weight, I bought the Micro-Mark molding kit and made molds to reproduce the military equipment that I bought. I am still working out the kinks (air bubbles=not forming details). It is much cheaper and much less weight. Here are some pics of the process.
FYI, the GHQ "10 mm" Civil War models (both figures and equipment) are N-scale. The owner of the company is an N-scale modeler. MH
