With the recently released PCM E7's in Espee Daylight scheme and the re-released ConCor GS4 Northern in Daylight scheme... I'm more interested in the passenger consist to go with them. That is... if the Shasta Daylight would have had E7's or GS4 as motive power for that consist. :rolleyes2: Intermountain Railway Co/Centralia Car Shops (take your pick ) had announced the Shasta Daylight consist to be released over a several month stretch beginning in summer 2006. I haven't heard any news about these models for several months and was wondering if they are still on track to be produced as scheduled. http://www.imrcmodels.com/distrib/ccs/html/ccs6720.htm http://www.imrcmodels.com/distrib/ccs/html/ccs6750.htm Will these models be equiped with any lighting or upgradable lighting interface?
I have 3 IM Centralia cars (Lark) and they are all glued. On the Lark it is not a big problem since it is a night train and I pretend everybody is sleeping.
Ughhhhh! I guess that the Daylight was running during the 'day' so it doesn't have to have any lighting. Still... that was not very good thinking on the part of Centrailia Car Shops. Some people will want to light the cars up regardless of the time of day they ran.
Resussitated the thread for more IMRC and Shasta info. Okay.... well... Some of the IMRC Shasta Daylight cars are supposed to be delivered between August and October of 2006. I certainly like the train and want to buy some of these cars... but... I'm a little reluctant to reserve them. Even at a discounted price... they are close to $30.00 each. I've seen the Santa Fe "Valley" series 6-6-4 sleepers at the LHS; and, I was not overly impressed. Don't get me wrong... they look 100 times better than the ConCor stuff... but... maybe not at $30 a pop. IMRC has the daunting task of creating a passenger car series that competes 'indirectly' with the Kato passenger consists. Dollar for dollar the Kato cars are a bargain compared to the IMRC offerings... but... Kato will probably never get around to doing a Shasta Daylight consist in my lifetime. The issue brought up by Roland... unable to light the cars... does bother me somewhat. I would like for others which have IMRC passenger cars to comment on the virtues and drawbacks that these models have. Other question regarding the Shasta Daylight. Did these cars have car 'names' or only car numbers to identify them? Thanks.
