I would have to agree. The Pennsy was known for its standardization. They didn't try to reinvent the wheel every time they needed a new locomotive. The drivers on a 2-10-0 were the same size as the 2-8-0 and the 2-8-2. Same is true between a 4-4-2 and a 4-6-2. Trailing trucks [on locomotives that had them] were all the same variety with the same size wheel. Lead wheels were the same size. Even boilers were shared. This commonality of parts could effect substantial savings in tooling costs if more than one type of locomotive was made.

Exactly my point. If they can do this in N:
    Catalogue No 372-627[IMG]

They should be able to do this in N:

They look to be about the same size. Maybe not now that I think about it. Isn't British N scale 1:15o or so. That may be the difference.

As to the 44 tonner, I was referring to one of these:

Although the Brit ones are pretty cool.

I was merely using the small British diesels as a comparison to the 44 tonner. While it's true that British N scale is 1:48 rather than 1:160 their prototypes are smaller than their US counterparts (their clearances are smaller than most other standard gauge and even some narrow gauge railways around the world), so a British 1:148 N scale 4-6-0 or 2-6-0 would be roughly the same size as a US 1:160 one. The British locos do show that Bachmann can make small N scale, the Class 08 0-6-0 diesel has had very good reviews in the British model railway press.

Only things I can think of that I'd like are:
    1. Athearn UP FEF Northern. Hey, they make one in HO, and they already have a tender with decoder/sound in it(off the Big Boy/Challenger).
    2. 0-6-0 switcher(Life-Like made one in HO, Walthers could make one in N). Would have to run well enough to be worth the money(NOT like the old Bachmann ones...)
    3. Would prefer a Pacific without the electrical issues of the MP one(Bachmann, are you listening?).

    That's all, folks :)
