I might be heading there for a few years and I was just wondering... the internet leads me to beleive that the options are slim! )-:
There are 1 or 2 clubs in the Montgomery area, but I think both are HO clubs. One club does host operating sessions. A group from Montgomery may come down to my next operating session, so I may know more after the 20th. I know a couple of N scalers in the Enterprise/Ozark (Ft. Rucker) area. Mobile is about 3 hrs south of Montgomery and you are welcome to come to my operating sessions. They are normally on the 2nd Sat. of the month at 1pm. If you are interested PM me your Email address and I will add you to the monthly mailing list for the reminder. Glenn
Give a holler to OC Engineer JD (Jerry DeBene). He lives in the Gadsen/Attala area, about 2 hours north of Montgomery/Maxwell. Aside from building a fantastic N-Scale replica of the Pinole, CA area where he and the ATSF used to play, Jerry also is the engineer controlling this lovely lash up of ponies on the ATN......
I agree, but I can't take credit. Jerry posted it on the Weekly Proto Fun. I copied his image URL and reposted here. I believe it was taken by one of his "Publicity Team".
Let me guess your heading to Maxwell AFB. I go down to Montgomery once a month as part of mt training in Civil Air Patrol
Sorry I missed your post Modeler X! Yes I am now stationed at Maxwell! So far it has been pretty nice down here!
There are a number of N scalers there. There used to be a wonderful hobby shop that included N scale, but he went out of business many years ago. Sadly, the nearest hobby shops to Montgomery (that I know of) are: Birmingham, Atlanta, Pensacola. It's an N scale wasteland. I know. I used to live there.
