4nscale .com was formerly known as Rio Grande Hobbies - I have been in the store in Owensboro and found them to be very friendly and helpful - good selection of current products as well as Peco and ME track, They are a good source with OK prices - not the lowest, but not the highest either - the service makes up for it. I have only purchased in the store, I haven't used their website. Never bought from Nscale supply - have a good website, but the prices and selection aren't the greatest - Mark Petersons Spookshow N scale website does not have nice things to say about them - but thats one mans opinion.
I have purchased several items from Rio Grande hobbies and always found them to be prompt in delivery. I usuually receive products within 10 days of ordering which is exceleent considering I live in Australia.
I have not so far bought anything from N Scale Supply, but he does stock and sell my kits They seem to be very quick to reply to messages, and very friendly.
I buy everything From N Scale Supply. Great service and great folks. I can only recommend them. Jean-Louis Simonet visit traiN'ternet : http://www.trainternet.org/
I have purchased from both RioGrande Hobbies and N Scale Supply. Both are very professional quick to respond and helpful. Both on a number of occasions have returned phone calls with information and help. Jerry
I have purchased from both companies with great results. I especially like dealing with 4NScale -aka Rio Grande. Both are winners in my book. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. (a fictional shortline in Central Illinois) http://www.geocities.com/revnjeff/index.html
I have had GREAT service with N ScaleSupply, they also respond quickly to my e-mails, sometimes even while the store is closed. They have always been more then willing to hold items and ship them once my pre-order items arrive so I can save on shipping. I have not bought anything from 4nscale, but I have spoken to Mark over the phone. Seems to be a very honnest business who is in business for the customer.

quote:
Originally posted by in2golfz: What about internettrains.com?

I figured that since they support the TrainBoard, I'd give them a try. Especially since they give you a $5 discount on your first order. I got the feeling that they farm out their order desk work because the person on the phone didn't seem to know anything about trains, "Just the order numbers please..." Shipping was very quick, I got my order the next day in the mail. The owner of the domain has a mail drop in Chino Hills, and the store address is in Brea, California. They're about 15 miles apart. They don't allow any will calls at the shop, so I imagine the address in Brea is another, primary business of the owner. Probably too much information... Long story short, fast delivery, just as promised, a little pricey without the discount, and you better know what you want because they won't be of much help. Like any other opinion, your mileage may vary...
I purchased 95% of my supplies from both N Scale Supply and 4Nscale - and this easily adds up to over $2,000 over the past two years since I started modeling from scratch. All of it was purchased from their web sites. For the past year I've dealt with 4Nscale exclusively, although both have been excellent providers of requested items. I have ordered from a few others and find that lowest price certainly isn't everything. These two shops offer all sorts of assistance, suggestions, and experience in the hobby that you just can't get from many others - especially the monster internet-only stores. N Scale Supply has a very good selection of items online and 4Nscale has a good selection and the friendliest, most personable service I've experienced. Remember that you can still order items not listed on the web sites - and they fill orders quickly.
