    Thanks for the input

Since I just ordered mine yesterday, due to the Thanksgiving Holiday I may have it for Christmas.

Okay my CMX Track Cleaning car arrived yesterday 02/16/11.

The company that I ordered it from along with a couple cars indicated when I ordered that all items were available and would ship in 2-3 days from receipt of order. I figured that that shipping time would be delayed because to the above mentioned holiday, but after 2 weeks and no package I called and was told that two of the items were coming in that day to be shipped the next. A week later and another phone call I'm told that one item is no longer available and that the other (CMX car) is on national back order. I requested that the order be canceled and that they refund my AMX card (they billed it the day of the order:thumbs_down:). A week later and no refund showing up on the AMX bill I called AMX and they investigated. After 30 days I received a notice from AMX that the seller did not reply to their request of info and I was credited the total amount.

After a few weeks of %^&* at work (long story not enough space here on TB. Just know it was not my fault) I decided to try a different location to purchase my car (I had purchased many times before from this place before without any problems). Other then a slight delay in shipping every thing went right the second time around. The packing was to the point that it could have dropped from a plane at 30000 feet and it would have not been damaged.

PS if any of you want to know who the first seller was please PM me. I will not give the name out here.

    Hi,

I got out the train building the other night and put my new CMX car to use. I was able to push it around using one of my Kato GP38's with my Centerline track cleaning car with a dry pad trailing behind as a wiper, at least until about 10 laps around the loop and then the loco stalled and just spun it wheels. After removing the car from layout I noticed a few things:

    1. The tank was empty. Guess I ran the flow too fast
    2. The pad was total dry. The alcohol had evaporated.
    3. The pad had two streaks with each of them wide and very dark at the leading edge, and tapering down to about 1/2 the width of the rail head and turning to a dark shade of gray.
    4. Inspection of the locomotive's wheels revealed that they too were clean.
    5. The Centerline car picked very little dirt. Obviously the CMX car did all the work
A couple days after the inaugural run I went out to the trains and did a finger sweep. NOTHING on the finger that should not be there.

I am very pleased with the performance of this car. I have to say that I had been wanting one for a few years, but the price put me off.

I want to thank everyone who replied to my questions and gave me their review of this track cleaning car. Interestingly, I did not receive any negative feedback on this car other then the price.

I find that 2 or 3 passes is sufficient to get my track clean. Depending on the size of your layout, 10 times around might be enough to run out the cleaning fluid, even if it's set at the proper drip rate.

The fluid reduces the pad friction. Lacquer thinner, for me, is better at reducing friction than alcohol, but when the pad runs dry the car gets harder to push. That's probably why your engine began to slip.

It sounds like the CMX machine has another happy customer.

Who has made one converted to HOn3?

And which version did you convert, the HO or N?
