Jose, Since CMW came out I am real happy and impressed with the selection of cars and trucks now available in N scale for my (our) era. I seem to have a plethora of classic late '40's and '50's cars and trucks, and along with the old CARSNSCALE stuff I got a few years back, and slowly painting and detailing them, I have quite the traffic jam for my layout when the scenery is ready. I recently obtained a lot of trains from a friend's widow, and he had a traffic jam, too. No Ford Econoline Vans, but 4 VW Combi vans, one, attached to an awning, a second in bad shape, and a third quite OK. I am refurbishing the bad one, as the proportions are nothing short of terrific. When either the older Ford or the one following is issued, as I am sure it will be in the months or years ahead, I will be panting at the cashier;s line in the hobby shop with a few in tow. Hang in there and be patient. You have our support. I would like to see one made, preferably in either Atlas or Lifelike plastic or CMW metal. Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
There are quite a few options out there. The Kato 90s Toyota set has three models that were marketed in the U.S., and the other three are similar enough to U.S. models to be used in the background. Other manufacturers that produce modern vehicles suitable for U.S. roads include Wiking, Busch and Herpa in plastic and GHQ in pewter. I have a list of nearly all of the N scale light duty vehicles that have been "mass produced" since 1968 posted in the N Scale Vehicle Association's Yahoo group file section. It has been about a year since that list was updated, so I will try to replace it with a new list this weekend. Carter
I have somewhere around 75 Personal Passenger Vehicles. Cars, pick-ups and SUVs. This does not count commercial vehicles. Naturally I have duplicates of most of them. If I could double that number, without increasing the number of duplicates, I would then have just about enough PPVs to fill my layouts streets and parking lots. Fat chance.
I thought I would just drop a teaser in that we will have a new vehicle kit in mid Sept. It's not even on the site as of yet since it will be complimenting several new projects and they are not ready yet. This will be a fun item and very easy to assemble. I'll keep in touch
Thanks, I’m going to order a couple of sets. I like the Atlas, but I feel like I’m doing a Ford commercial. I wish the makers of Classic Metal Works would come out with a modern line of vehicles.
Yes I must agree, I too wish that Classic Metal Works would come out with a modern vehicle line. Hey here's a thought just maybe they will read this thread and get a hint.:tb-smile:
Agreed, there is a real void in modern vehicles. Did I read somewhere there will never be any more GM vehicles due to licensing problems? There are some nice old cars out there, but boy do you have to hunt in order to get variety. There are some turkeys from each manufacturer, but there are gems too. One more vote for Classic Metal Works mixing up their colors instead of two of the same in each pack. I've been populating a junk yard for years now, but still need maybe 50 more vehicles. 1960s cars are what I want!
I bet a lot of us have duplicates. You know, it would be easy to swap cars with other Trainboarders via TrainStore (and free, too). With no retail package around them, they don't cost much to mail at all. Maybe I'll put some dupes up for trade?
