Well I got the next batch of switches. It has dawned on me that I dont have enough remotes for them. Now eventually my layout will have many switches. These normal boxes that I have seem to be a bit bulky, when you start putting a large amount together, so I was looking for another means to throw them via something else. Is this possible? Ill be making a box of some type to mount these on too so they are not on the table ( which is what is going on now and it just does not look right )
By "remotes," do you mean the SWITCH MACHINE for electrically throwing the switch, a part which is attached to the track switch or sometimes hidden under the layout surface. Or do you mean the ELECTRICAL SWITCH to control the track switch. I prefer to control my remotely-operated track switches with momentary contact pushbutton switches (same principle as a doorbell switch but smaller) that mount on a panel ("box") on top of a track diagram. Rather than having to identify switch #1, #2. #3, I can visually see on the diagram which button goes with which track switch. When the track is close enough to the front of the layout, I like to be able to control it manually unless it is situation which would be handled by a remote switch on the prototype.
I mean the switch that you have off of the track itself like your control panel in your picture. The things I am trying to avoid is sen here at the atlas site : https://secure.atlasrr.com/mod1/itemdesc.asp?ic=0056&eq=&Tp= the cost for them seems a bit steep as I am looking at needing around 20. Its money that I could save ( I think ) that could be spent on something else
