Does anyong have one for the Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern (EJ&E)? I saw an EJ&E car at Wenatchee the other day and figured there must be some nicknames for that road.
Did some research, and from the Webville & Hyperytext site by Chris Coleman, I found this list of flattering and not-so-flattering railroad nicknames . For the EJ&E, I found these slogans: </font> Chicago Outer Belt Line</font> Around-not through-Chicago</font> The J</font> As far as nicknames, here's two off this list: </font> Easy Jobs for Everyone</font> Egypt, Jerusalem & Elsewhere (for its route around Chicago)</font> And Boxcab, ol' buddy, there's a slew of non-flattering nicknames for the BN and BNSF (may not want to tell Matt about those....... )
I got some real nasty ones for some "old time" RR's eg, the Pittsburgh, Ft.Wayne & Chicago ( P.F.W. & C) Lake Shore & Michigan Southern (L.S. & M.S.) among others. If ya really wanna know, ya hasta back channel message me on AOL. CT
IIRC, the nickname for the Pittsburgh, Ft. Wayne & Chicago is Pigs' Feet, Whiskey & Cigars (which doesn't sounds at all good).The other one? Lousy Service & Mighty, er, Silly (can't cuss on TB, y'know...
