    Thought you might like this one:
    Railroad Nicknames, flattering & not so

    My favorite, of course, are two names for BNSF:

    </font>
    • Big New Super Frisco</font>
    • Been Nothing Since Frisco</font>
    But I COULD be a wee bit prejudiced........ :rolleyes:

    Bob-

    I could, but will not add to those two you listed. Both that "company," and it's predecessor, (Bad News), are received here in Montana with an extremely queasy stomach.

    Does anyong have one for the Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern (EJ&E)? I saw an EJ&E car at Wenatchee the other day and figured there must be some nicknames for that road.

    Did some research, and from the Webville & Hyperytext site by Chris Coleman, I found this list of flattering and not-so-flattering railroad nicknames .

    For the EJ&E, I found these slogans:
    </font>
    • Chicago Outer Belt Line</font>
    • Around-not through-Chicago</font>
    • The J</font>
    As far as nicknames, here's two off this list:
    </font>
    • Easy Jobs for Everyone</font>
    • Egypt, Jerusalem & Elsewhere (for its route around Chicago)</font>
    And Boxcab, ol' buddy, there's a slew of non-flattering nicknames for the BN and BNSF (may not want to tell Matt about those....... [IMG] )

    IIRC, the nickname for the Pittsburgh, Ft. Wayne & Chicago is Pigs' Feet, Whiskey & Cigars (which doesn't sounds at all good).The other one? Lousy Service & Mighty, er, Silly (can't cuss on TB, y'know... [IMG]
