Not as good as that animated video with the time stop watch, but a nice outdoor layout none the less. It's basically a shelf layout with about 70 feet of mainline run. It runs on DC power pretty much year round. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCiqlTk8Vhk&feature=player_embedded
That's pretty neat. I like the long passenger trains. Here's what it looks like to ride aboard a train on that layout:
Yeah I think the outdoor crowd really just runs what they like, so you see a lot of passenger trains. I know I am not worried about presenting a railroad, I'm just playing with trains on mine so it's all pretty stuff. The Brits have all kinds of cool Passenger prototypes, even modern DMU's, or the Virgin trains are very nice varnish. Glad you guys took the time to look at 'em.
An even better video without music on it. Can't wait to get my trackwork finished and move onto scenery. This is very inspiring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGcWBB3ujtw
I think the whole point of the outdoor railway is that even the periphery of a small back yard can produce a long right of way, thst is assuming you have a back yard. BTW mine is in my tiny front yard area of 10x20 feet or so.
