For those who have not already heard. Renowned Milw photographer/employee Wade Stevenson passed away earlier this week. His health had been sliding down hill for some time. Boxcab E50
If you've ever been to one of his slide presentations, or been able to dig through those piles of pictures he took, the unique subject matter he captured, of that area especially, is a thrill to see. Boxcab E50
Never heard of him? Here in the Pacific NW, there are some well known names of railroad employees, or fans, who recorded a lot of great stuff- Photos, movies, sound, and words. Before during, or after World War Two. Virtually all have participated in authoring, or contributing to many books and publications we enjoy today. Among them, Wade Stevenson, Al Farrow, Warren McGee, Jim Frederickson, Ron Nixon, Warren Wing, James Turner, Harold Hill. Since then, came others- Ruth & Ed Eckes, John Ilman, Don Dietrich, Maynard Laing, Elwin Purington, Ted Carlson, Robert Johnston, Al Currier. And more! The list is lengthy! I've had the pleasure of meeting many of these people. And even getting to know more closely some of them. Amazing how friendly, and willing to share most have been! And how they lacked the swollen egos we see all too often these days. If you are stationed here long enough, you'll come to know, and I guarantee, enjoy their works. Boxcab E50
Does anyone know if his pic's are catalogued somewhere? I would love to look thru them like whenever I see Warren Wing at trainshows! I could spend hours lookin' at pic's around Othello and eastern WA.
His photos are not available for public viewing at present. There are a couple of rumors about who inherits them, etc. We'll need to wait and see. Boxcab E50
