Made my first Moffat run of the year two weeks ago, Easter Sunday. Today, I made another run up Moffat. This time, to see if I could get the photos He I is looking for, and I think I managed. While driving by, to get first photo, I encountered my first train. Of course, I heard the dynamics, and squealing flanges. Not in time to grab photos. Next train, was a BNSF freight, eastbound at Tolland. Heard it, and had just enough time to stop and grab a shot. Through my windshield, this is what I found. This time, I was able to make it about 3 1/2 miles up Rollins Pass. And NOT getting stuck! :embarrassed2: Snow bank about 18" deep, covering about half the trail kept me from going any farther. Interesting too, since others DID break through and kept going up. I can't do that with 2WD. About half way down, as I beat the snot out of me and the truck, I heard, and saw, the tail end of the Westbound Amtrak Cal Zephyr. Three trains, but only able to snag one! Yeah, truck got slightly dirty today too. More so, since I chose to remove fender flares yesterday. Wanted to see how it looked with big tires and no flares. Guess I'm gonna have to make another trip up, but maybe when I go on vacation the end of July. Bill, WY also on my list of places to go and stay for a day or two. Plenty of coal action! Better quit, before everyone gets too bored!!
Murphy, a constant, unwanted companion!! Hey, at least this time, I didn't get stuck!! Plus, weather was real nice, and I wanted to escape humanity for a while! Already have 1 shot of truck uploaded. Not sure if I should add 1 final one, showing truck as of today. Or getting opinions on fender flares. Reinstall, or keep removed? Overall, a good day.
