The proud owner and operator of the Lessons Learned Line did it again. Be very careful NOT to apply CA to the front truck of a Bachmann 2-8-0 when attempting to affix a Z coupler to the perfectly drilled out pocket.
Mark: You aim for the pocket that you created in the pilot. As the old Brylcreem commercial said: " A little dab will do you" Stay cool and run steam.....
Hmm sounds like the Law of Rigid and Long Wheelbase vs Curvature and Turnouts suddenly came into play. Or how to make a 2-8-0 handle like a 0-12-0.
Bob- I know where to aim. Sometimes, I miss. #4000- That about summed it up. I was, though, able to use a dental pick scraper thingy to scrape it off the inside of the wheels as it was drying. Mr. Hynds- Considering the seriousness of all of the mistakes I have made in my 22 1/2 month adventure, this one wasn't too bad. At worst, the Bachmann would have gotten a check and I would have gotten a new front truck. Now, if it dropped into the gears, then ............
Mark, I understand...I've read some of the threads...And believe me I feel your pain...Been there...done some of that! But, the only Mr. Hynds I knew was my Daddy! I know you're an attorney but must we be so formal? We are all among friends here, right?
Mak: I have extra Spectrum 2-8-0 front and rear trucks if you have a problem with the one you're talking about. Stay cool and run steam....
Bob- All clear. I scraped it off . Tom- Now that we have been formally introduced, I most certainly will be on a first name basis.
Haven't heard that one in a while! Mark- Don't feel bad. I've aimed poorly more than a few times. And cursed some thereafter.... Boxcab E50
Mark, Try (next time) squirting some ACC into a bottle cap (or something) then use a pin or toothpick to dip into the glue then dap the model. Might take a few applications since you don't move much glue that way, but it will help. You can also try making a very small loop at the end of a wire, the ACC will fill that loop so you'll get more in one shot.
Mark: I place some ACC on a small piece of cardboard and then use the tip of a common pin as an applicator. You can readily control the amount of ACC squeezed out on the cardboard. Stay cool and run steam....
I know, I know. Sometimes, it is very hard to control the drip. I think I will use Chris' method with the loop. If that fails me, I will go to the pin method.
You need some of these: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXB970&P=7 Syphon what you need from the CA bottle and you can work all evening.
