No, this isn't a scratchbuild tutorial by JWidmar - even though that would be cool. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_4933337,00.html Eric
Would this happen to have more info, like heritage of this car? Being a Pullman car, I'd assume it's not a stainless steel car. Would be neat if it was a former D&RGW car!
Here is the heritage of the other cars: http://www.royalgorgeroute.com/rates_dome.aspx Seems like they came from Alaska RR Eric
They have been coming down through Wyoming on the C&S. The Royal Gorge also bought the last F-7B unit from the Alaska RR. It was unloaded from the barge in Seatle Thursday. I was hoping someone out there could find a trace on it. It is ARR 1503. Might have to drive to Canyon City to get a few pictures while it is still in Alaska colors!
I know someone I could ask about this F7B. But their days off are Monday and Tuesday. So it'll be too late.... Boxcab E50
Shots of Domeliners I snapped these roster shots of the three other domeliners on the Royal Gorge Route in June 2006 while they were stopped at Parkdale. I also snapped a couple of the motive power, an F-7, a GP-7, and an SD-9, if anyone wants to see them.
I have a few of this train I took while on the Royal Gorge Bridge. I will post a couple and then post a link to the album so as to not post too many messages. View of Royal Gorge Train from the bridge View of one of the F units from above Full view of one of the dome cars and partial view of another View of locomotives on other end URL to album; train pics start on first page and go to second page. D&RGW #499 on static display can be seen on the last page. http://community.webshots.com/album/552062646wEOoVL Webshots is a little slow lately so the images might take a bit to come up.
Cool!! The paint on the cars looks like those Bachmann Mt. McKinnley cars, I didn't know that was Alaska's livery. Fits right in with Colorado, (like the colors on the licence plates). A happy accident, me thinks! I rode the train years ago when the only 'Grande' paint was on the F. Definately on my list of 'must go again' adventures. 2slim
Boxcab If you wouldn't mind asking your friend to put a trace out I would appreciate it. Who knows, maybe I can get lucky and catch it here in Denver before it heads further South. I hear that stuff can sit here a few days. Hopefully that will be the case here!
ARR 1503 Was (BNSF) waybilled August 17, 2006: Seattle, WA, to Canon City, CO. Non-revenue move. (FREE) Still sitting in Seattle as of this morning, August 23, 2006. As it's free, will likely start it's journey when they have a low priority freight headed east. Best guess as to route: Seattle-Spokane via BNSF. Spokane-Laurel via MRL. Laurel-Cheyenne-Denver-etc via BNSF. Said he'd check back in a couple of days or so. If he has time. Boxcab E50
Nice Catch!!!!!!! Yes, please post all the images you got!!!!!!! I wonder if they plan to paint these or keep them "As Is" which looks great just the way they are now!
Boxcab, Thanks for checking on the B unit. I greatly appreciate it! With your help maybe I can get a few photos of it as it comes through. Of coarse I will post them if I do!
Am hoping he'll get back to me, and have news she's moving. If mg: and when he does, will post it here. Boxcab E50
Royal Gorge Motive Power Here's what I caught in May and June of this year when we were coming through Canon City. Enjoy. :happy19pb: SD-9 GP-7 And, my favorite shot, a little before sunset, of the F-7
