These are some in-progress shots of a BN SD40-2c that I am building for a friend. It is being built using a Kato SD40-2 and the radiators from a Kato SD45. Still lots of work to do but I'll show a few more shots as I go. [ December 31, 2005, 06:00 PM: Message edited by: slsfnut ]
Paul- Thanks! I really enjoy watching your projects happen, so I thought I would post a few photos as I go.
Here is another shot after painting and a few details added. The snowshields and deflectors were built from styrene. They will really stand out when everything has been flat finished and weathered!
Here is the completed loco. I may have weathered the top too much, but that is easily fixed with a light shot of black. I'll let it sit a few days and then decide what to do. [ December 31, 2005, 06:08 PM: Message edited by: slsfnut ]
Chuck, The unit looks excellent but thats always with your work. I quite like the weathering especially the trucks and fuel tank
Chuck: Did you take the entire top of the SD45 or just the radiator section and the three fans on top? Thanks.
Fantastic work!!!!! The weathering is very subtle, and realistic--BN took relatively good care of their fleet. The one item I can see that needs anything, is the MT couplers... They could use a quick splash of rust or brown paint, and black on the trip pin... It makes such a difference! Other than that, I think it looks perfect!
