516 and 513 lead the SACR21 with 141 cars for Cedar Rapids. Passing Walford, IA 513, 516 and 55 cars charge up out of Fairfax, IA bound for South Amana.
That Rock Island scheme is one of my favorites, and looks especially good when still clean and new. And it looks surprisingly at home on one of those big GEs. I'm quite pleased with the "heritage" trend among railroads, now that so much of railroad history has been gobbled up by mergers, acquisitions, and just plain bankruptcies. It makes for a nice, colorful variety on the rails, and heightens the anticipation of any railfan who hears the next train coming - what heritage scheme will I see next?
