The Ann Arbor Railroad has recieved 2 GP-39's from the Union Pacific. These are former Missouri-Kansas-Texas units in the GP49 carbody. The Ann Arbor GP-38's still in service will stay on the property. The numbers are 2368 and 2373. The two GP-39's are intended to supplement, not replace, the GP38's. A new Ford distribution terminal is moving in next week at the former Jeep site between the AA and CSX yards in North Toledo, which will mean additional switching work for the Ann Arbor. Good to hear the Ann Arbour is doing ok. During our first visit to the USA we didn't get to see it, but got quite close as we were near Detroit at one time during our travels.
Well, now I'm curious. What size is the current roster? How much of the old system is still in operation? Is there an on-line map of tracks in use that I can view? Boxcab E50
Between Toledo, OH and Ann Arbor is still part of the Ann Arbor. Most of the rest of the line between Ann Arbor and Frankfort, MI, and the AA GP35's are now part of the Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway.
