I just ordered a Droid incredible and noticed there are apps for throttles.. Which is the best app? and what would it take for me to use this hardware wise? (which dcc systems)
That I don't know, I don't have a Droid. In fact, I thought that there was only one Droid app for this. You need a DCC command station that has an available PC interface and allows JMRI to talk to it. This includes Digitrax, EasyDCC(not Bachmann's EZ-DCC), Lenz and NCE. There are others, but these are the most popular ones here in the U.S. MRC's Prodigy line is not in that list because even though they have a PC interface it will only work with MRC's software. You need the PC interface. There are several options depending on the system you get. You need a computer to run JMRI(Java Model Railroad Interface). You need to download and install JMRI(it's free). You need a wireless router so your Droid can talk to your computer.
Okay.. I had only heard of the one app.. Just didn't know if there were others at this point.. Do I just need to get a port for the NCE PowerCab?
There is also a freeware program called rocrail which has an android app called AndRoc. In addition to throttle, you can also setup and access control panels and routes from your phone.
I like the simple look to it.. yet it also looks quite advanced at the same time.. I can't wait till I can work with this.
