I have finally succumbed to the attractions of DCC! At least I will have when I buy the equipment I knew I would want to change sooner or later, so thought it ought to be sooner! I will convert a few locomotives to begin operations, then do them gradually, as I add the detailing and put them into traffic. Any new acquisitions will be DCC fitted where possible. I have decided on Digitrax, but not sure which one. Probably do not need the Chief on my small railroad, so may go for the next one down - Empire Builder? I am not yet running trains regularly, as the layout is still under construction, so it will not restrict me too much to only have a few locomotives ready to begin with. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Have fun Alan! I don't think I'll be converting anytime soon. It will take alot of bank to change my fleet, too many without the DCC ready frames. If it was different, I might concider it. Also, my fleet runs their wheels off on N-Trak Modules and N-Trakers can't run DCC often because it shuts out many others from running trains. ------------------ Brent Tidaback, Member #234 BNSF Railfan-to-the Max and a N-Scaler to boot! I was at an N scale shop in Indianapolis today. The owner had a stroke about a year ago so his sons are now running the shop. At he present time it is only open on Sundays for four hours. They just returned from the Big show in Chicago. They had information on a very small decoder. Only problem he left the info at home so I only have to believe what he told me. It is designed for the the older equipment not designed for DCC. The decoder should be on the market in the not to distant future. I asked them about some of my 15 year old engines and they said the Manufacturer said it would fit a lot of the older stuff. ------------------ Larry E. Gilbert ASST. No problem for me - I would just dismantle the locomotive, take it into the workshop, and mill the frames to fit in the decoder ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Alan, Sounds to me you have just got yourself a new business? Maybe installing decoders into locomotives? ------------------ Regards Paul Cassar-# Member number 50 SPAD Investigator #1 ICQ 61198217 http://users.bigpond.net.au/railroad2000
