Here are some photos of the CCF (Canadian Car and Foundry) coach I recently finished. Like the baggage car previously shown, it is an Athabasca kit (brass sides/plastic core kit) with added details from Athabasca, Cal-Scale, Precision Scale Co. and others. The stainless steel window frames and end doors are from Athabasca. The blinds were printed on an inkjet printer. The frosted washroom windows are textured plastic. The diaphragms are from American Limited. Vestibule end: Blind end: Close coupling:
That must be one sharp-looking passenger consist you are putting together there! Bravo, nicely done! Can't wait to see your roll-by with the engine and all the cars!
I'm actually modeling a short passenger train. It consists of a loco (GP9 or F7), steam generator car, baggage car, coach and express boxcar. It's a replica of my late father's train which ran from Winnipeg, woo woo woo to Thunder Bay, ON in the 60's. It was replaced by railliners in the 70's and discontinued entirely when VIA was born.
Very nice work indeed, Colin. That is a simple but beautiful paint scheme. I'm looking forward to seeing the whole consist as well.
OK, here are some shots off the whole train which consists of a loco, steam generator car, baggage car, coach and express boxcar: 1. pulled by GP9: 2. pulled by F7A:
Colin, your train looks great. Will you give your cars a weathering? At least, a light weathering at the trucks. I guess, this would bring out the details. I would like to have such a train, but I'm more into the 1970 to 1980. Wolfgang
The baggage car and coach will get some weathering soon to match the engines and steam generator car.
Beautiful! Looks great with the F7 hauling. I think we saw some steam generator cars parked in Spadina Roundhouse, Toronto in 1985, would they have still been in use?
VIA took over passenger operations in 1978 and CN transferred its fleet to them. I'm sure they still had many of their steam heated cars in 1985 so the steam generator cars would still have been in use.
