This morning's Metrolink 809 from the Inland Empire to San Juan Cap had a mutiny! We pulled into Santa Ana where about 80 passengers waited to disembark. The train stopped for about a minute and then the conductor called out "Doors are closing". The only problem was the doors never opened! The train pulled out of the station and high balled to Tustin. Most of the passengers high balled for the conductor. We pulled into Tustin, but overshot the platform. Everyone waited for a few minutes but the train didn't back up and the doors weren't opening again. The passengers were going ballistic. Somebody broke the glass on the emergency exit and passengers started bailing out of the train onto the roadbed. The conductor was twisted about destroying his train, and the passengers were telling him "What would you do if you were kidnapped by a train crew?" The train finally backed up to the platform and my wife and I got out, walked through the tunnel to the other track, and caught a northbound train back to Santa Ana. I heard from other passengers that 809 couldn't continue it's route until the fire department came out and reset the emergency exit.
