Earlier today, I was up north near Fort Collins in the town of Johnstown to visit some family friends and as we were going through town, I spotted a train that had a rather interesting loco. Well, I demanded that the car be turned around so I could get a closer look. It was none other than a former Northwestern Pacific SD9 idling away with a cut of cars. Didn't quite expect to find such a thing here.

Sorry for the slight grainyness as I had to take the photo from my phone.

A very lucky find, too. It is nice to see the oldies still earning their keep.

I was thrilled to see this, seeing as this is actually the first SD9 that I've seen.

Nice catch. Good thing that car was turned around! I'm with you, wish I could even see another (unaltered) SD9, or SD7. Listen to the old 567 chanting along. *Sigh*

I can't see any patches..........any idea who owns it? There are still a couple of SD9's running up here on the MRL, but they have been chop-nosed and otherwise modified.

It's part of the Great Westerns collection of locomotives.
I usually see it in Loveland when I go to Sam's with my folks.
They also had chop nosed unit, #5305, an ex DRGW locomotive.
It was sold to CCRG, Canon City and Royal Gorge, and recently
    cut up for scrap.
