I did an extensive search for threads having to do with selecting an airbrush and after reading almost everything I could find on the subject, I had about decided to purchase an Aztec 4709. Then I came across a message that stated that it is almost impossible to find connectors for using the Aztec with an air compressor. Is that really true? I have a small 5 gal DeWalt shop air compressor that I use for my nail guns and would like to use that with which ever airbush I end up getting.
I've got an Aztec and had no trouble connecting it. I think there were a selection of fittings with it and/or the compressor and some combination of them worked. But that is with an airbrush compressor. I can imagine that if your combination didn't work straight off it might be a bit of a faff getting the right bit(s). But that would almost certainly be true of most airbrushes, not just Aztec. I'm sure others have used shop compressors for airbrushes, so it's certainly not impossible.
John: I've been using the Aztec A4709 airbrush for years without a problem. It's a great airbrush.. Stay cool and run steam....
I agree. My point is that the message was directed at Aztec specifically. I haven't purchased one yet so I don't know what configuration the air line comes with but when I check the various Airbrush outlets I don't find any reference to Aztec when it comes to adapter fittings. I see fittings for everything else. I just don't want to buy something and have to
Bob, I have no doubt that Aztec makes a good airbrush. I just don't want to buy it and then fine that I can't get fittings to adapt the air line to my compressor. I've checked a lot of the Airbush internet outlets and I see listings for adapter fittings for everything except Aztec. What kind of air compressor do you use?
John, does your compressor have a 1/4" threaded fitting on the outlet side? If it has, you will not find a problem fitting the Aztek to it. If the compressor has a quick disconnect on it, then you will need an adaptor to convert from quick disconnect to 1/4" male. Advantage there is you can now quick disconnect the airbrush, too! If you have a local machine shop selling air tools you can always go there and explain the problem you have. They should have in stock, or be able to get, anything that would resolve it and probably give you several options in doing so.
I have a sears craftsman compressor and the quick connects that came with it fit both the aztec and the badger. Loco1999

Gary is correct, the adapter fits a 1/4" pipe thread, which is the output on 95% of all small compressors.
John: As Nelson stated in his post, the adpater is included with the A4709 kit. It will fit anything from a can of air on up to a compressor. The coupling fits all 1/4 inch fittings. Have fun.... Stay cool and run steam.....
Thanks to all for the helpful info. I just picked up an A4709 for $80 which I thought was a good price and will shortly begin my first adventure with airbrushing.
Adapters and fittings can be purchased just about anywhere. I got a new compressor and a second airbrushe (Paasche) last summer. I went into Home Depot and picked up 4 or 5 extra adaptors and various fittings for about $2.00 total. That way I can quickly switch around from a Badger to the Paasche in one painting session. Good luck w/ the Aztek!!!! Airbrushing is a hobby unto itself.
John: You've made a good choice on the A4709 airbrush. Have fun with your first attempts with the new airbrush... Stay cool and run steam.....
Matk: The paint has to be properly strained and thinned. I've never had problems with clogging of the airbrush. The tips and brush must be meticulously cleaned after each use to keep paint from settling in the tips. Stay cool and run steam....
