Seems like he has a good plan. I like the idea of expanding the short and medium routes. At least here in Colorado, there are a couple of corridors that could use rail service.

I like the concepts of the corridor trains such as the Cascades and Downeasters. In Texas, I'd love to see service in the Dallas/Ft. Worth-Amarillo-Houston triangle. In Colorado, a Cheyenne-Trinidad train would be nice.

One would think that with gasoline runnning so high, and airlines being overcrowded (basically sardine cans with wings), that other options would be or could be available to the public.

Minnesota is also ripe for short distance commuter service. Saint Cloud Minnesota (about 60 miles northwest of Minneapolis) is prime for commuter service into the Twin Cities Metro. There has long been talk of commuter service running on the BNSF double track mainline (former NP main line). The "North Star Corridor" as it has been called has been stalled from lack of State support and funding. perhaps this would prime the motive again. It is amazing how far some peopel drive to commute. I used to live in a small town called Holdingford Minnesota about 20 to 30 miles west of Saint Cloud Minnesota. My neighbor worked in Minneapolis....from there that was a daily commute of 90 miles one way!!
