Does anyone here model Amtrak California Cars from Overland Models, which are Brass? It seems that Overland Models made their F59PHI Locomotive with better Quality along with their Bi-leve Cars.

Well, you get what you pay for.
Brass is usually at least 8 times more expensive than a comparable plastic locomotive.
Brass locomotives and cars, especially Overlands, are handcrafted from brass (usually by Ajin Precision in Korea).
The details on the brass stuff is a lot finer than on a plastic loco, and also more liable to break off with repeated handing.
Brass can be made in sheets, then assembled into whatever item is being run.
Plastic has to be injected molded, and the limitations of the mold will show in the model.
The brass items run good, and look good, but in my opinion they are mostly for display; definitely not designed for the handling that a lot of models get.
If you have the dough, and can afford the brass stuff, you are more than welcome to it.
I will stick with the plastic stuff thank you very much [IMG]
