I was wondering if any one has messed with one of those "pre cut" or laser cut side kits where you have to assemble them into a car using 2 different kits? I see they have quite a few interesting passenger cars especially the dome car for the milwaukee road. (of course as soon as its finished it will be released in ready to run.

Any tips? are they really complicated or not to difficult for as i would be called a "medicore modler". I keep things simple, i like to run trains round and round and round instead of switch or operations.

    Info is greatly appreciated.

I've done a little with them. I used Brass Car Sides for a couple L&N sleepers. They were very easy to do. Take a Con-Cor car, enlarge the window openings to match the brass sides, and glue them on with contact cement.

Other sides use different car bodies, and some even come as a total kit. The details on the American Limited cars for underbodies and roofs are great. They have working diaphrams, even full width if you need them. I have some car body kits without sides that I'll eventually use when I re-bash a L&N Hummingbird train set that I never got to run right.

See my website for some of these kitbashes.
