With an upcoming house move (hopefully), I did some serious thinking about my stalled rebuild of the Andersley Western railroad.

As I work all day in n scale, it was difficult to spend evenings building an N scale model railroad with any enthusiasm. What I needed was something completely different to do in my spare time (when I can find any)!

No, I didn't think about a different hobby, just a different section of model railroading. Having recently been hankering after backdating my era, I realised I would be particularly happy with much more steam, plus a few early diesels. Also things like short tank cars, 40ft boxcars, etc appeal to me. (Maybe as an antidote to the more modern items I produce) ;)

So having made these decisions, a more fundamental one was made........to change to HO scale  The original AWRR was HO, so I will have come full circle, via Swiss HO, Belgian HO, British O and #1, and US N scale.

Many more steam locomotives and steam era items are available in HO, and as I want a small mainly switching layout, it is feasible in the larger scale. I will have much less equipment, but will try to super detail it all (blame Paul Templar and son Matt for inspiring me)!

I know less about HO then N so will be no doubt asking questions in the appropriate forums.

Edit: Yes, I will still continue producing N scale items  :D

Welcome back to the HO Scale band wagon, Alan. I've alwasy done HO but dabbled around in N a couple years ago. Just wasn't patient with N scale I guess. I'm sure you are more than busy as you are with ACM, but are you planning to eventually release some HO scale equipment?

Good thing this was added! You'd have a lot of folks very worried!

Anyhow, I can understand your thoughts. Nonetheless, sorry to see you switching.

I always thought HO meant Horribly Oversized. Good luck on the move and the new layout (BTW, I've had a little experience with moves)

Alan, we are thankful you will keep doing N models, especially since I almost have a package ready to send you!

Perhaps you should try the new Atlas shay before you jump ship to the big stuff....

Does this mean we can now acquire some N scale Andersley Western rolling stock? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Alan,
Sorry to hear you are going to the Dark Side... [IMG] [IMG]
But if you quit doing ACM products in N, we'd have to shoot ya! Just kidding! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Don't worry Jerry, if Alan does quit the ACM N line, I'll personally head up 'narf' to Spalding and draw and quarter the devil myself! :D

As I do not want to risk being shot, or drawn and quartered, I will of course continue producing N scale kits :D (But I also will be producing a kit for HO fairly soon) ;)

Yes Paul, I like the AW Alcos, so will duplicate some in HO [IMG]

I will be selling most of my N scale stock, just keeping a locomotive or two. I will probably put stuff on ebay, and a notice in the yellow forum here.

Changing to HO will enable me to seperate my work and play [IMG]

Alan, Welcome (back) to HO! [IMG]

With some nice affordable small steam from the likes of Spectrum, and some great freightcar kits around, sounds like a good choice.

Waiting with bated breath on what the HO kit will be... ;)

    Allan,
I think we're fairly mature here [IMG] and would not be upset with your change [IMG]

I am of course wishing you good luck [IMG] [IMG] and expect the same mature response from everyone else here. :( [IMG] [IMG]

The secret Alan is to have N in your home and run HO at other friends place, that way you have the best of both worlds. Its what we do here, except now Dane belongs to an HO modular club, while I proceed with the N scale layout.
