Sunday, May 21 my wife and I took the old Soo steam locomotive trip from Chippewa Falls, WI to and over the St. Croix Bridge into Minnesota and back. I said old Soo locomotive, she is in great shape, all restored and quite a pretty picture. Instead of trying to tell you about her I'll give you the web site address that will tell you her history. It was a grand trip with some good photo ops. It was fun watching all the rail fans following along on the highways and taking pictures. We were told that the track speed over our route was 50mph and she was doing 45mph. They say her top speed is 90mph. Oh, the grand sounds of her !
I think we will be riding again in the fall over another route to the old East Winona depot area.

P.S. Added the picture today, 6/20/00, to make sure I understood Charlie's instructions about posting an image. Have finally setup a film scanner at home and obtained some web space so I can do pictures now [IMG].

Hi Patrick, and thank you for sharing the information on SOO Line 2719 with us. It sounds like you had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed it. Thanks also for the link to the CVRR and 2719 website. 2719 is certainly a national treasure, and hopefully anyone who loves railroading in general, and/or the SOO Line in particular will support 2719 either with a membership or contribution.
    Thanks again,
    BILL [IMG]
