For all you Milwaukee fans, Google popped up an item from the Missoulian (Mt) concerning the past of your favorite road...enjoy ! http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2009/06/24/news/mtregional/news06.txt Bob C.
It's hard to drive through there and see the town today. Without their railroad, something is really missing. It's quite true, when they note Missoula and growth. If you want to see something fascinating, go to the top of Lookout Pass, wait until darkness, then start driving east. It's not long until you start seeing lights in the trees, where none had ever been. Missoula is indeed reaching outward, and those little town are slowly becoming commuter bedroom communities. For some folks, it's the so-called "life style" of living outside a city. For many others, it's necessary for financial survival. They cannot afford to live in where costs of living are steadily driven up by taxes and regulation. The average household income in Montana is rather low. Boxcab E50
A quaint little town, definitely lacks a lot with the RR gone nearly 30 years now. I met Fran last May, when I visited the 100,000 bookstore, and then the town's RR museum. Well worth the stop.
