    hello everyone.
well we are guaranteed the house we found now. the papers are all ready to go. the house closes on the 31st.

My mom has given me the options for 3 layouts: a large HO layout in the garage (this one), an area outback for a g scale setup, and a small coffee table layout.

This trackplan is made of a hybrid of 3 layouts featured in different books. the foundry/steel mill area is from the "generic jigsaw" from small, smart, practical track plans by Iain Rice. the main 8x12 is from the same book and is called okehampton. the final one its based off of loosely the pike city belt line from klambach.

before i forget, the tracks at the bottom of the plan are staging, i forgot to label them.

    Industry description
1.coal mine consists of several buildings: a tipple, an office, a garage for a truck, and a coal shed.
2.depot, just a central valley thing from walthers that i have had laying around for awhile.
    3. the railroad offices for the albany central.
4.Fruit packing plant. Reefers loaded with fruits and vegetables arrive into the plant, the items are offloaded, and crates of packages are loaded into them.
    5. A larger station I'm thinking about getting those ATSF style things walthers had.
    6. This side of the layout faces the vehicles in the garage and trains run along a street (only one side will be seen, the other side will be nothing).
    7. a fright house that will store items while they are not needed.
    8. theres a grain elevator on either side of these 2 tracks that load and unload grain cars.
    9. coran powder takes in hoppers with limestone and turns them into a powder mix which is put into bags and loaded into boxcars.
    10. Dolkos Oil loads and unloads tankers.
    11. city lumber recieves luber from mills out of the layout (staging)
    12. this is either gunna be a checkers or some other auto parts seller. boxcars arrive here loaded with parts and they are ditributed to stores in the area.
    13. excel electronics has a largish building where nickel, gold, plastic, and steel are shipped in and out comes computer parts.
    14. just a 2 track small yard where i can show off certain cars as people looking at the layout will be right next to them.
    15. city news takes in boxcars of paper and tank cars of ink (what do they ship them in in reality?) and sends out emptys.
    21. I didn't plan this origonaly, hence the number gap, the RC cola distributing company recieves boxcars of RC cola and sends old cans out.

the next couple of industry's go on a 6 1/2 foot long section as a mini-steel mill
16.the scrap yard section, scrap metal arrives here and is dumped.
    17. fabrication shop, metal is fabricated here into shapes and things.
    18. erecting shop, iron ore and scrap is mixed together here and melted down.
    19. finishing shop, here the steel is polished and quality checks are performed here.
    20. a small crane loads the finished steel into steel coil cars and gondolas.
I'm going to use my bachmann spectrum 44 and 70 tonners as switchers for the mill.

    any suggestions? criticism?

First, try to draw the plan to scale. Iain Rice's plans are well-known for being extremely tight, requiring hand-laid turnouts to fit the stated space.
